Setting up OLLIN AI

USCYBER Banner

The Ollin response was interesting. This was running Ollama as the core with llama3.1 model. On my particular system with 32MB memory and a GPU RTX3060 w/12GB of memory, the response was slow! According Nvidia Info tool the GPU was not used very little -less than 10%. My CPU. What is the best procedure for setting up ollama and what hardware is needed.

Ollin is an open-source, online learning platform that allows users to
create interactive simulations and games using a visual programming
language. To set up OLLIN (not “ollama”) and start creating engaging
experiences, follow these steps:

Hardware Requirements:

  • A computer with a 64-bit operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux)
  • At least 8 GB of RAM
  • A decent graphics card (depending on the complexity of your simulations)
  • Internet connection for accessing online resources

Software Requirements:

  1. Install Node.js and npm: OLLIN is built using Node.js and its
package manager, npm. Ensure you have the latest versions installed.
  2. Install Java Runtime Environment (JRE): OLLIN uses a custom Java
runtime environment to execute simulations. Download and install JRE from
    Oracle’s website.
  3. Install Git: You’ll need Git to clone the OLLIN repository.

Setup Procedure:

  1. Clone the OLLIN repository:
    • Open your terminal or command prompt.
    • Navigate to a directory where you want to store your OLLIN project.
    • Run git clone https://github.com/ollinjs/ollin.git to clone the repo
      repository.
  2. Install dependencies:
    • Navigate into the cloned repository: cd ollin
    • Run npm install to download and install required packages.
  3. Build OLLIN:
    • Run gulp build to compile the code and create a production-ready ver
      version of OLLIN.
  4. Configure environment variables:
    • Create a new file called .env in the project root directory (e.g., nano .env`)
    • Add the following lines, replacing <your database URL> with your act
actual MongoDB or PostgreSQL database connection string:
      DATABASE_URL=<your database URL>
  5. Start OLLIN server:
    • Run gulp start to launch the development server.
  6. Access the OLLIN dashboard:
    • Open a web browser and navigate to http://localhost:3000

Now you have successfully set up OLLIN, but this is just the beginning!
You’ll need to explore the platform’s documentation, tutorials, and
examples to learn how to create engaging experiences.
