FTC Federal Trade Commission Launches New Office of Technology

The office, Federal Trade Commission, which will be headed by Chief Technology Officer Stephanie T. Nguyen, will strengthen the agency’s ability to keep pace with technological challenges in the digital marketplace.

This will upset the Applecart. Read this proposed change they are looking at for comment on. I have had a few of these in my life, but ethically I am always for the current employer being successful. But I can see where the level of politics is so heavy in the marketplace, that the relationship could become very strained, and the situation with current employer goes sour. I was a contractor for PayPal at their start many years ago. Because of their politics in the workplace, I wouldn’t work for them now. If I did, I would quit because they changed their product brand against certain Americans to something unacceptable to me.

What Are Non-Compete Clauses?


A non-compete clause is a contractual term between an employer and a worker that prevents the worker from seeking or accepting employment with a person, or operating a business, after the conclusion of the worker’s employment with the employer. A typical non-compete clause blocks the worker from working for a competing employer, or starting a competing business, within a certain geographic area and period of time after their employment ends. A non-compete clause may be part of th worker’s employment contract or may be contained in a standalone contract. Employers and workers may enter into non-compete clauses at the start of, during, or at the end of a worker’s employment.
If a worker violates a non-compete clause, the employer may sue the worker for breach of contract. An employer may be able to obtain a preliminary injunction ordering the worker, for the duration of the lawsuit, to stop the conduct that allegedly violates the non-compete clause. If the employer wins the lawsuit, the employer may be able to obtain a permanent injunction ordering the worker to stop the conduct that violates the noncompete clause; a payment of monetary damages from the worker; or both. Where workers are subject to arbitration clauses, the employer may seek to enforce the noncompete clause through arbitration….
